XWD — Saab's cross-wheel-drive technology — is one of the most advanced systems on the market and it will soon be available with the 2.0 Turbo engine.
XWD improves driving performance by directing torque to the wheels that need it most. It counters oversteer, understeer and instability to give a steadier, sportier handling.
Until now, XWD has been available on the 9-3 Aero Sport Sedan and SportCombi models with the V6, 280hp engine. Now, from model year 2009, XWD will also be offered on the 2.0 Turbo, 210hp engine in all forms (Linear, Vector and Aero) for 9-3 Sport Sedan and SportCombi models.
In addition, eLSD — which splits torque between the rear wheels and was previously available only with the Turbo X — will become optional with XWD for both V6 280hp and 2.0 Turbo 210 hp engines.
